Sheryl Lee Ralph’s daughter gets an A+ for her help at the 2024 Emmys.
The Abbott Elementary star dazzled on the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in L.A. Sept. 15, courtesy of her daughter Ivy Coco.
“My daughter continues to be my stylist,” Sheryl exclusively told Laverne Cox on Live From E!: Emmys. “She continues to earn her stripes as a stylist because we both know it is not easy in the fashion industry.”
“This is her third year—to be able to create the relationships that would garner me custom Versace and Cartier jewelry,” she gushed. “She's doing it. I get to wear it and be fabulous in it, and I'm loving it.” (See more red carpet fashion here.)
And, of course, Sheryl—who opted for a glowy makeup look and sleek ponytail—had to dress to impress in her classic black halter gown from Versace. After all, she’s nominated for one of the show’s seven categories, Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series as Barbara Howard for the third consecutive year. (She’s up against costar Janelle James, Only Murders in The Building’s Meryl Streep, Hacks’ Hannah Einhinder, The Bear’s Liza Colón-Zayas and Palm Royale’s Carol Burnett.)
The 67-year-old also has hopes for her character storyline in the future, which would feature a very sauve sibling played by Denzel Washington. “I don’t know if it will happen, but at least I can dream about it,” she said. “My dream family, my brother Denzel.”
And for Sheryl, the show's success has been a dream come true.
“It took me 40 years to become an overnight sensation and it feels better than you can imagine,” she told E! in January. “I’ve been given a gift from people—it’s not about money. It’s about the relationship with the audience, with the human beings.”
