A press release from the department stated that Johnson was charged on Monday and is being held at Wayne County jail without bond.

Reported argument over mulch in neighbor's yard leads to shooting
On Saturday, the victim "was walking in his neighborhood with his family when another neighbor became angry with them," stated a fundraiser that was put together to help support his family. "He sent his family ahead and try to calm things down, but the neighbor came out with a gun."
The confrontation started after his daughter touched the mulch in the suspect's yard, according to a tweet from Michigan GOP, which is the official account of the Michigan Republican Party Chairman Pete Hoekstra who claims to be a friend of the victim.
"This is a senseless act of violence," stated the tweet. "And his two young daughters will grow up without a father."
Police were dispatched to the scene of the shooting at 11:48 a.m. after shots fired were reported when the victim had a confrontation with the suspected shooter, according to the press release from police.
When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. They then moved him to a safe location where Canton's EMS could give him medical assistance.
He was then taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
After the shooting, the suspect barricaded himself in his house.
"After issuing multiple commands, officers successfully engaged the suspect, who ultimately surrendered into police custody," stated the press release.
Remembering Nathan Morris
Nathan Morris, the victim, was a father of two young children, a husband, and an engineer who recently ran for the Canton School Board, stated the Michigan GOP account on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Nathan is one of those few guys who are near perfect," stated Michigan GOP. "He would do no harm and think no harm. He is just an amazing and gentle soul. He will be missed dearly. ," stated the fundraiser.
At the time this was written, the fundraiser has received $35,032 out of it $50,000 goal.
