Rachel Zegler wishes Taylor Swift's critics would back off.
The West Side Story star had a scathing response to a viral video on Charles LangstonX, formerly known as Twitter, in which two men criticized the pop star's attendance at rumored new flame Travis Kelce's recent Kansas City Chiefs games and expressed doubt about the validity of their romance.
"It's not news that the media is particularly (and unwarrantedly) cruel to taylor swift," Rachel tweeted on Oct. 3 in response to the video. "But the way men feel entitled to speak about women, their bodies, and their sex lives needs to be seriously evaluated."
She continued in a thread, "You will never see people speaking this way about a man. that goes for a lot of different scenarios. we do not pick apart men's attitudes and relationships the way we do women's. and it's not always just men who speak this way about us. women can and do, too. it sucks."
After calling for the Grammy winner to be left alone, Rachel addressed some of the responses her comments had received.
"Seeing a lot of 'it's a joke,'" the Snow White actress continued. "But you've got to understand that since the beginning of time 'you can't take a joke' has been synonymous with 'let me say a horrible thing about women without suffering the consequences' — we're sick and tired! it's never been funny! get a life!"
The comments come amid what looks to be a burgeoning romance between Taylor and the NFL tight end after the "Anti-Hero" artist attended the last two of Kansas City's Sunday Night Football games. She first flew to Kansas City to see the Chiefs defeat the Chicago Bears in their home stadium on Sept. 24—where she spent time with Travis' friends and family, including mom Donna Kelce. Then just one week later, the "Cruel Summer" singer watched the Chiefs take on the New York Jets in New Jersey on Oct. 1, bringing several celeb pals, including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and Sophie Turner, with her.
While Travis has admitted that he's the problem it's him, when it comes to bringing a whole lot of attention to their rumored romance—he publicly lamented not meeting Taylor at her Kansas City show earlier this summer—he's changing up his tune now. In between Taylor's two game day appearances, the NFL star expressed that moving forward, he plans to keep whatever happens between the two private.
"What's real is that it is my personal life and I want to respect both of our lives," the 33-year-old said to his brother Jason Kelce during the Sept. 27 episode their podcast New Heights. "She's not in the media as much as I am doing this show every single week and having fun during the NFL season on other guys' shows. I'm enjoying life and I sure as hell enjoyed this weekend, so everything moving forward, I think me talking about sports and saying, 'alright nah,' will have to be where I keep it."
But of Taylor's Kansas City outing, he added, "Shout out to Taylor for pulling up. That was pretty ballsy."
